Steep Theatre Announces Landmark 10th Season
Steep Theatre Company is thrilled to officially announce its lineup for their landmark 10th Season. The 2010-2011 season will continue Steep's commitment to new or under-produced work with four full productions, featuring one U.S. Premiere, two Midwest Premieres, and an early work of one of Chicago's iconic voices, David Mamet. Directors responsible for some of the most important shows in the company's history will return to Steep to direct the four productions: Joanie Schultz, Jonathan Berry, Robin Witt, and company member G.J. Cederquist. Each of the productions will feature many of the Company members and visiting artists who have helped the company earn its reputation as a home for hard-hitting, ensemble work.
Steep Theatre Company has enjoyed remarkable success over the course of its first nine seasons. Steep productions have been named to Timeout Chicago's Top Ten Shows of the Year list three times, the Chicago Tribune's "Best of the Fringe" list twice, and WBEZ's "Top Ten Shows of the Decade". In five years of Jeff Eligibility, Steep has received 9 Jeff Nominations and has won the 2009 Jeff Award for Best Ensemble (In Arabia We'd All Be Kings) and the 2010 Jeff Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Kendra Thulin, Harper Regan). Most recently, the company was named the 2010 Broadway in Chicago Emerging Theatre Award Winner and its 2010 U.S. Premiere of Simon Stephens' Harper Regan was one of the year's most critically acclaimed and commercially successful shows, running for 50 sold-out performances.
This season's programming celebrates the company's aesthetic, body of work, and its place in the Chicago theater community. The slate of shows:

Seven stories intertwine to offer a portrait of society at the dawn of a new century and on the eve of a world tragedy.
It is early July, 2005, and the United Kingdom is the center of the world: home to the G8 conference, site of the Live 8 concert, and recently named host city for the 2012 Summer Olympics. On the morning of July 7, 2005, that center is shaken by three bombs in London's underground.
This U.S. Premiere reunites the playwright and director behind the best-selling show in Steep history, Harper Regan. Director Robin Witt's past Steep collaborations include Parlour Song and Breathing Corpses, which was named one of the "Top Ten Shows of 2008" by TimeOut Chicago.

For the first time, Steep will be offering season subscriptions and ticket packages. Subscriptions and season tickets will be available beginning Friday, September 10th.
