Steep Wins "Best Ensemble" at Jeff Awards!

Steep Theatre prides itself on the strength of its ensemble style of acting so it was a particular thrill on Monday, June 8th, when the company took home the highly coveted 2009 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Ensemble for their production of In Arabia We'd All Be Kings. The Joseph Jefferson Awards ceremony, which took place at the Park West Theater, honors excellence in Chicago Theater. The award gave the company and the show's ensemble another opportunity to celebrate one of the most successful and enjoyable experiences in the company's history.
Steep is back to ensemble work with the June 25th opening of the Midwest Premiere of Howard Korder's The Hollow Lands. The show features 14 actors, playing over 30 roles, over a 30 year period. Some fresh faces join some familiar ones from many of the shows that have given Steep it's reputation as a home for strong ensemble wok: In Arabia, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Coronado, and Breathing Corpses. It also reunites the company with director Jonathan Berry, the director behind Steep hit The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.
