In Arabia a Hit with Critics, Jeffs, and Audiences
Steep Theatre Company's latest production, In Arabia We'd All Be Kings, has all the hallmarks of another monster hit for the company. The production's Jeff Recommendation was followed closely by some wonderful reviews from the critics.
Timeout Chicago named In Arabia one of its "Critic's Pick" going on to claim "[a]n evening with homeless junkies and rough trade shouldn't be this good." Timeout theater editor Christopher Piatt called the production "blistering".
Lawrence Bommer of the Chicago Reader found the show "astonishing and redemptive." "Eleven actors seem to erase everything they've been to become 13 sad survivors drifting through three perfectly pointless days. Authenticity this precise thrills," wrote Bommer.
With its Timeout's "Critic's Pick", In Arabia follows in the footsteps of past Steep hits Book of Days, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, and Breathing Corpses. Audiences have packed the theater for the first four performances making for one Steep's best opening weekends.
