George Cedarquist is a director of opera and theatre. A Steep ensemble member since 2004, he began his happy career here by directing Pvt. Wars, the company’s worst flop ever. It’s been all roses since then, and he is currently attending Northwestern University’s Master of Fine Arts program in Stage Directing for Opera and Theatre.
Opera and music theatre includes: Les Miserables (Assistant Director, Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire), The Medium (NU Opera), The Boys From Syracuse (Assistant Director, NU), In The Bubble (Assistant Director, American Music Theatre Project), The Bartered Bride (Assistant Director, NU Opera), The Abduction from the Seragli (Assistant Director, Chicago Opera Theater).
Theatre includes: The Crucible (Assistant Director, Steppenwolf), Boston Marriage (NU), Proving Mr. Jennings (Actors Workshop, and one of New City magazine’s “Top 5” productions of 2006), Moby-Dick: Rehearsed (Theatre-Hikes), The Night Heron, Catch-22, Dealer's Choice, The Merchant of Venice (Strawdog), The Last Game of he Season (Collaboraction/Sketchbook), 24 Hours are Not a Day, Bits & Scraps, Information for Foreigners (Disposable).
